During Convention Days in Seneca Falls, NY, hear Equality Now! by Gwyneth Walker, written for the Telos Trio. The lively work is a celebration of the first Women's Rights Convention held in Seneca Falls in 1848.  The six-movement work includes readings from suffragists' writings and the Declaration of Sentiments that was written for the Seneca Falls convention. The concert will musically trace the history of the women's suffrage movement from its inception in 1840 at the World Anti-Slavery Convention to 1917 when women voted for the first time in New York State.

The Telos Trio performs at the Hochstein School of Music and Dance with a live radio broadcast of this concert on WXXI 91.5 Classical Radio and streaming online at wxxi.org. The program features music of prominent female composers who have created new worlds through their art and their lives, including Alex Shapiro, Libby Larsen, Jennifer Higdon, and Valerie Coleman.  The concert will highlight a selection from a new work composed for the Telos Trio, Equality Now!, by Gwyneth Walker, which is a celebration of women suffragists in this centennial year of women's suffrage in New York State.
